On April 17-18, 2024, a meeting of specialists from statistical services of the CIS countries on statistics for the Sustainable Development Goals was held in Moscow (Russian Federation).
The event was organized by the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS (CIS-Stat), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) together with the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the national statistical services of the CIS member states, as well as representatives of international organizations (UNFPA, UNECE, UNICEF, ESCAP, the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Statistical Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission and international experts.
The Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was represented by the head of the Department of Statistics of the Social Sphere and Sustainable Development Kirgizov Dilshodbek Erkinbaevich, the chief specialist of the department for the formation of consolidated analytical information on statistics of sustainable development and sectors of the social sphere Razakova Rano Muminjanovna and the leading specialist of the department of the formation of consolidated analytical information on statistics of external and domestic trade Salimov Nurbek Bakhtiyorovich.
The main goals of the meeting were to exchange best practices and experiences, harmonize national practices and international recommendations, fill data gaps, improve monitoring and visualization of SDG indicators, and identify priorities for further work on building capacity in statistics for SDG monitoring.
The meeting will serve as a platform to share best practices and experiences, showcase innovative solutions to address challenges, and identify priorities for further work and development of statistical capacity in this area.
