Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals week launched in our country on June 10, 2021, it’s held a round table on the topic "Actual tasks of poverty reduction in Uzbekistan: problems and ways to solve them".
The members of the Senate and Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of UNESCO and other international organizations, officials of ministries and departments participated in this event.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Reforms of the Oliy Majlis E.Gadoev noted that the UN has adopted the Sustainable Development Goals for the period until 2030, each of which contains specific and targeted tasks, their compliance with the goals of the Action Strategy approved by the Decree of the President in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, in particular, such goals as ensuring employment and increasing real incomes, purchasing power of the population, reducing poverty by further reducing the number of low-income families and the level of income differentiation of the population.
Thanks to the ongoing systematic work to ensure the achievement of goals and objectives, the poverty level today has decreased from 12.8% to 11.4%
It was noted that in order to systematize material and non-material support for the needy layers of the population in a pandemic, by decisions of ministries and departments and local Kengashes of people's deputies, lists of families in need have been compiled, active work is underway to ensure actual tasks within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and its main goal - poverty reduction.
In the event it was discussed the measures taken to reduce poverty in Uzbekistan, the state and prospects of mobilizing resources for the implementation of programs and strategies to eradicate poverty of population, strengthening the targeting and effectiveness of their social protection system, improving the quality of social protection services and other topics.
There were developed recommendations on the considered issues.
